Our kitchen remodeling project is finally done!!! Five years ago, Dad took out the wall between the old kitchen and the bedroom, which made it into one room. Last November, the major remodeling started .... and now it's all finished!!
The difference is amazing, but the neat thing is that we just adapted to all the changes so naturally. It hardly took us anytime to remember which cabinets held what and where things belong now.
So, to start, here are some pictures of how the kitchen use to look:

^The garland on the ceiling was trying to cover the beam that was left from when Dad tore out that wall... you can also tell that that part use to be a bedroom because the walls are pink!
And... the deer head was only there because we didn't have any where to put it!
When this area was still a bedroom, there also use to be a closet in the corner where that brown cabinet is standing.
The plywood above the sink is covering an opening that use to be a window before we built the addition on the back of the house.

The remodeling guys started on November 21st ....
Karissa packed up the whole kitchen and took most of it down to the basement where Dad has set up a canning kitchen for mom earlier last year. We used that for several weeks.... and I don't miss it a bit :)
More lights.... new drywall....
Each little thing made the room look so different .... and it made it look like 1 room instead of 2!
The guys did a spectacular job with the drywall dust. As much as we were expecting to have tons of drywall dust everywhere, we had only a minute amount.

They worked over the whole weekend we were in SC for Thanks giving, and we were so surprised and excited with what they got done while we were gone.
... and it only took her 2 evenings!!!!!

The cabinets!!! This man said ours was the largest order of cabinets he's ever had from a single person!
One cabinet got missed on the order, so we had a blank space for a while, but Kaleb painted that spot green so it didn't stick out as bad :)
And the finished product (just cabinets):

Next came the tile for the floor...
During this time, we had to go out the door in the laundry room, go down, around, behind the house and go in the basement door to get to our make-shift kitchen down there! Like I said, I do not miss it!

Karissa said that hardest part of the whole process what unpacking all our kitchen stuff and arranging and rearranging it in the cabinets.
We didn't have running water in the kitchen for a little while, but then Dad hooked up the plumbing for the sink and the fridge and our new 2-drawer dishwasher!

The rest of the pictures are of the totally finished kitchen. We are enjoying every bit of it!!!
The island is on wheels, so we can move it around.
At Christmas, we rolled it out into the laundry room and set up another table right there, so everyone was together in one room :)
The 2 drawers to the bottom left is the dishwasher... each drawer can be run independent of the other!
And we have a fireplace!!!! This is probably my favorite part!! It's electric so no hassle with ashes... also, you can turn on the pretty artificial flames without turning on the heat!
the end :)
